6.         The Neon Demon
7.         Green Room
8.         Kicks
9.         Holidays
10.       Ouija: Origin of Evil

Honorable Mentions:  Hardcore Henry; Siren; The Land; Take Me to the River; Fender Bender; Southbound; Storks; Monsterland.

Worst of 2016:

1.         High Rise
2.         Independence Day: Resurgence
3.         Cabin Fever
4.         They Found Hell
5.         Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice
6.         The Mermaid
7.         Broken Vows
8.         Come and Find Me
9.         The Disappointments Room
10.       The Girl in the Photographs

Dishonorable Mentions: Andron; The Darkness; Careful What You Wish For; Restoration; Home Invasion; The Bride; Yoga Hosers; Midnight Special; The Offering.

Other Superlatives:
Coolest Title:  The Devil’s Dolls
Good-but-not-as-much-as-the-hype:  The Witch; Don’t Breathe
Not-as-bad-as-they-said (still not necessarily good):  Suicide Squad; Shut In
Biggest Disappointment:  Rob Zombie’s 31
Most Unnecessary Sequels:  Independence Day: Resurgence; Kindergarten Cop 2

Most Overrated:  Deadpool; Lights Out; The Girl on the Train
Best Comeback:  Phantasm: Ravager
Needs a Comeback:  Kevin Smith

Commentary:  Like the year itself, 2016 didn’t seem to be a very good year for movies.  Come to think of it, the last couple years weren’t.  I’m thinking about just making lists for movies I watched during that year no matter how many times I’ve seen them or when they came out.  Realistically, Clown wouldn’t be best picture of the year; I haven’t seen a really good evil clown movie in a while, that’s why I gave it the honor.  Kubo and The Monster are probably tied for second.  Holidays actually was a worthy anthology film so I included it in the top ten.  Ouija: Origin of Evil making it on the list goes to show there weren’t many movies to choose from; I thought it was much better than the first so I snuck it on the end.  Southbound and Monsterland were decent anthology films so I included them in the honorable mentions.  Storks was much better than I thought it would be so I gave it some recognition.  Cabin Fever was probably the worst remake I’ve seen in recent memory and was the worst movie of the year for a while.  However, at least I was able to follow it unlike High Rise which wins for being worst of the worst.  I lost interest in Independence Day: Resurgence long before it was over, that’s why Cabin Fever shockingly wasn’t at the top.  I’m getting picky with modern movies.  I need a new hobby!  Or should just stick to movies I know are good beforehand.  2/5/2017

Best/Worst of 2013

2013 YEAR IN REVIEW

Best of 2013:

1.         V/H/S 2 (prob the best horror anthology film I’ve seen in a long long time and every single short was good)
2.         Prisoners (really more of a tie with V/H/S 2, it really comes close and should’ve been nominated for lots of Oscars)
3.         Blackfish
4.         Stoker (I didn’t even know Wentworth Miller wrote this until after the fact, the fact that I                     liked it so much and that he wrote it is awsum)
5.         The Way Way Back
6.         Stitches (had to put an evil clown flick on here, just had to)
7.         The Place Beyond the Pines
8.         Aftershock
9.         The Kings of Summer
10.       Insidious: Chapter 2 (as far as sequels go, this nailed it and yes I slightly enjoyed this more                 than The Conjuring)

Honorable Mentions:  Spring Breakers (dared to be different and succeeded); Nothing Left to Fear; Curse of Chucky; Dark Skies; This is the End; Resolution; Hello Herman; Monsters University; The Conjuring.

Worst of 2013:

Dishonorable Mentions:  Mischief Night; A Haunting at Silver Falls; The Dinosaur
Project; The Mooring; Love Me; Crush; The Wicked; Home Sweet Home; Unlucky

Dishonorable Mentions:  John Carter; Prometheus; 7 Below; Apartment 143.

Commentary:  Paranorman should absolutely, positively, without a doubt be on the top ten list.  I didn’t see it until the end of the year nor have enough time to love it upon successive viewings.  I almost wanna alter history to put it up there.  Killer Joe wasn’t as good the second time.  Piranha DD was a runner-up?  LOL  1/30/2017

Dishonorable mentions:  Quarantine 2: Terminal; Revolucion; Bread Crumbs; Siren; Scar; River of Darkness; Terror Trap.

Commentary:  Horrible Bosses on the top ten?  I’m amazed.  Stake Land should switch positions.  I hated The Green Lantern that much?  Again, some of those movies on the worst lists don’t ring a bell.  1/30/2017

Worst of 2010:

1.         The Killer Inside Me
2.         Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated
3.         I Am Virgin
4.         Paintball
5.         Blood on the Highway
6.         The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest
7.         The 41-Year-Old Virgin Who Knocked Up Sarah Marshall And Felt Superbad About It
8.         Life Blood
9.         Suicide Girls Must Die
10.       And Soon the Darkness

Almost Made It:  Vampires Suck; The Square; Damned By Dawn; Knife Edge; Dinoshark; Tell Tale; Cry of the Owl; Homecoming; Spring Break Massacre; Stolen; The Uninvited; Don’t Look Up; Spike; Dorian Gray; Mandrake; Damage; The Stranger; 7 Days; Assault Girls; Ninjas vs. Zombies; Mirrors 2; Valentine’s Day; Chain Letter

Commentary:  Where to begin?  First, Frozen is NOT the Disney movie (that came out three years later).  Burning Bright would probably be #1.  This looks like the first time I ever had a tie on the top TEN list (I technically cheated with 11).  Both of those movies were very good that year.  As for the worst list and it’s runner-ups:  I counted at least 13 of those titles I don’t even remember watching.  Just 6 years makes me forget them that quick?  Hmm…1/30/2017

9.         The Taking of Pelham 123
10.       G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra

Almost made it:  The Grudge 3

Commentary:  Adventureland, Coraline and The Haunting in Connecticut should be in the top ten instead of runners-up.  Definitely CoralineTrick ‘R Treat should be up higher.  Orphan would at least be on the runners-up list; knowing the twist beforehand makes it a much darker movie.  Watchmen was the worst movie I’ve ever seen from what I remember; I fell asleep more than once and grasped nothing when I actually was awake.  Only one runner-up for worst?  Must not have seen too many bad movies that year.  1/29/2017

Runners-up:  Trackman; Anaconda 3: Offspring; One Missed Call; Boogeyman 2; 21.

Commentary:  There must not have been too many movies to choose from that year if I put Little Chenier on my top ten.  I’d probably switch locations for Cloverfield and Little Chenier (if I’d even have that on the best lists at all).  Yes, I hated Step Brothers1/29/2017

5.         The Invisible
6.         Firehouse Dog
7.         Snoop Dogg’s Hood of Horror
8.         Normal Adolescent Behavior: Havoc 2
9.         Blades of Glory
10.       I Know Who Killed Me

Runners-up:  Balls of Fury; The Condemned; Captivity

Commentary:  Pretty relevant list.  I still love The Mist and The HostSicko, is that the Michael Moore movie?  Wow!  Yes, at the time I actually did like Death Proof better than Planet Terror (both part of Grindhouse).  I like both now.  I Know Who Killed Me actually got (a little) better, it’s basically well-shot trash.  Creepshow III wasn’t as bad the second time, some parts suck while others not as much; still doesn’t compare a smidgen to the first two (this one didn’t have The Creeper in between stories, that’s probably why!).  1/29/2017

Worst of 2005:

1.         Son of the Mask
2.         Alone in the Dark
3.         The Pacifier
4.         D.E.B.S.
5.         Deuce Bigalow:  European Gigolo
6.         Sahara

10.       Dark Water

Runners-up:     Rebound; Racing Stripes; Man-Thing; Cross Bones; Serenity; Return of the Living Dead 4: Necropolis; Odd Girl Out; Boogeyman; XXX: State of the Union

Commentary:  Doesn’t look like the greatest best-of list.  I’ll have to re-watch Sin City to see why I chose that as best picture of 2005.  A Harry Potter movie was actually a runner-up that year?  These are interesting to look back on.  High Tension would definitely be on the best list; I was initially let down by the twist.  I actually like Return of the Living Dead 4 now.  These lists appear to be phases sometimes.  1/29/2017

Close:  A Home at the End of the World; Garden State; A Cinderella Story; Comic Book: The Movie; Vicious; Laws of Attraction; New York Minute; The Chronicles of Riddick; Scooby Doo 2; Young Adam

Commentary:  Looks like a decent tally.  Shrek 2?  Haha.  I don’t remember watching Vicious so it must’ve been bad.  I also don’t remember watching The Last Horror Movie so that must not have been too good.  No, I wasn’t crazy about Garden State at all even though I’m from there.  1/29/2017

Best/Worst of 2003

2003 YEAR IN REVIEW

Best of 2003:

1.         Finding Nemo
2.         The Lord of the Rings:  The Return of the King
3.         Identity
4.         House of 1000 Corpses
5.         Final Destination 2
6.         The Eye
7.         Big Fish
8.         Northfork
9.         Equilibrium
10.       Basic

Close:  Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl; Rollercoaster

Worst of 2003:

1.         Gerry
2.         Gigli
3.         Daddy Day Care
4.         Dumb & Dumberer:  When Harry Met Lloyd
5.         National Security
6.         Love Liza
7.         Due East
8.         Scary Movie 3
9.         Swimming Pool
10.       Sweet Sixteen

Close:  Final Examination; Dysfunktional Family

Commentary:  Looks like I made some pretty good choices back in 2003.  Not sure if I would’ve put Equilibrium and Basic on my top ten if I could go back in time.  I’m not going to alter history as much as I want to.  Cabin Fever and May would be on the top ten; Kill Bill, Volume 1 definitely would be but I didn’t see it before making this list.  That’s another thing:  some movies I don’t see before making these lists.  I usually make my list in February to see some movies that come out (to rent) in January.  Gigli I actually didn’t hate as much the second time but it still wasn’t particularly good; same with Swimming Pool (could be that I first saw it with my Mom and I don’t think that semi-porn French film is something you see with your parents).  1/29/2017
